Kendall SCD™ 700 Sequential Compression System Featuring Patient Detection. The Kendall SCD™ 700 Smart Compression™ Controller is the next evolution of IPC. It’s designed to move more blood3* to help prevent stasis3 and track compliance4 to aid in the prevention of VTE.

Kendall SCD Series Controller Product description:

The Kendall SCD™ 700 Smart Compression™ Controller delivers compression to the leg, foot, or both to aid in the prevention of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), including Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE) in the at-risk patient1,2. It includes a flexible and transportable design, animated alerts with resolution prompts for any error, low noise, ease of cleaning, and a large LCD screen for visibility. As part of the Kendall SCD™ 700 Smart Compression™ system, the Controller includes the following smart features:

Kendall SCD Series Controller Smart Compression Cycles

  • Measure venous refill time using Vascular Refill Detection (VRD) technology and customize compression cycles automatically for each patient5
  • Move 100% more blood per hour3*
  • Adjust accordingly when a patient’s needs change over time

Kendall SCD Series Controller Smart Patient Compliance

  • Displays the patient’s true wear time by nursing shift;
  • Features Patient Sensing™ technology, which alerts the nurse of removed sleeves &
  • Provides a wear time tool to support true compliance to therapy and quality improvement initiatives
  • Animated Alarm Resolution
  • Animated icons communicate the cause of the error and how it can be remedied

AN ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION
The Kendall SCD™ 700 system applies intermittent pneumatic compression to increase venous blood flow1 — helping prevent deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in at-risk patients.
A prescription device for clinical settings, the system consists of:

  • The controller;
  • Tubing sets (provided with the controller) &
  • Single-patient use leg sleeves and foot cuffs (purchased separately)

CUSTOMIZED THERAPY FOR EACH PATIENT
Vascular refill detection (VRD) is unique to the Kendall SCD™ 700 system. This exclusive technology customizes the compression cycle for each patient. VRD technology has been clinically proven to move up to 76 percent more blood over time when compared with IPC devices without VRD.

HOW IT WORKS

1.     An 11-second default compression cycle is applied to the patient’s leg.

2.     The sleeve deflates, holding 6 mmHg of pressure in the middle chamber of the calf.

3.     Pressure is held and monitored for up to 60 seconds to allow evaluation of calf girth changes.

4.     When calf girth stops increasing for 10 seconds, this signals that leg veins have refilled completely.

5.     Vascular refill time is calculated and set; the sleeve deflates.

6.     Vascular refill time is reevaluated every 30 minutes to account for patient variables.

INDICATIONS

  • The Kendall SCD™ 700 Sequential Compression System with Leg Sleeves is indicated for:
  • Deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis
  • Pulmonary embolism prophylaxis
  • The system with foot cuffs is indicated for:
  • Circulation enhancement
  • Deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis
  • Acute and chronic edema
  • Extremity pain incident to trauma or surgery
  • Leg ulcers
  • Venous stasis/venous insufficiency

Kendall SCD Series Controller CONTRAINDICATIONS

The Kendall SCD™ 700 system may not be recommended for use with leg sleeves for patients with:

  • Any local leg condition in which the sleeves may interfere:

1.     Dermatitis

2.     Vein ligation (immediate postoperative)

3.     Gangrene

4.     Recent skin graft

  • Severe arteriosclerosis or other ischemic vascular disease
  • Massive edema of the legs or pulmonary edema from congestive heart failure
  • Extreme deformity of the leg
  • Suspected pre-existing deep venous thrombosis

The system may not be recommended for use with foot cuffs on patients with:

  • Conditions where an increase of fluid to the heart may be detrimental
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Pre-existing deep vein thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, or pulmonary embolism

Durability

  • With limited liquid ingress (rating of IPX3), stable power supply and fully protected battery, the controller is durable

Noise Reduction

  • Vibration dampeners and soft overmolding make the controller quiet

Design

  • Continuously smooth, grooveless surfaces and slim profile make cleaning easy
  • Graphic User Interface
  • 3.2-inch color LCD screen provides large icons for visibility

Cleaning Compatibility

  • Controller material is compatible with most major hospital-grade cleaning agents
